All things considered, this was a pretty solid effort against the division leading Alumina squad, a team that is now sporting a 9-2-1 record. Both teams threw the book away when it came to tight checking defensive hockey and that made for a pretty entertaining game (even from a fans perspective).
The Steelers welcomed Justin Warkentin back to the line up and that certainly seemed to boost the offence as J-Man accounted for 2 goals and added an assist. K-Man continued his impressive play (I can't believe I'm typing this) with his own two goal and one assist performance (web-site shows only one goal, but that's being changed [sorry Larry]). Mike Didulka also scored one (and could have iced it in the third if he wouldn't have rang one off the post on a break away - oh well - can't get down on the team's leading scorer too much). Marco Jones also scored on a beautiful break away after stepping out of the penalty box, a familiar spot for the tough defenseman (also earned him room key duties for next game).
With a Steelers holding a 6-4 lead late in the third, the spirit of the Maple Leafs seemed to take over and there went another 3rd period lead.
Overtime solved nothing.
Great game though boys!
Game scratches included:
- Carvahlo (watched the Leafs actually win one); Lindsay (took in the Rangers game in New York); Ruben (sleeping)
Next Game - Tuesday, December 19 at 10:30 vs. The Fat Boys
