STEELERS DOMINATE RUSSIANS WITH ASIAN INFUSION

The Steelers called up Mark Lee from the Highlander farm team for this big match up against the winless Black Russians. Lee has rejuvenated his career over the past season with very solid play on the blue-line and carried that fine play into the Steelers line up, which when all players arrived to the room ended up with a tidy 12 (4 D and 8 F) - a combination that was certainly firing on all cylinders last night. Many forwards were overheard saying how much more energy they had with a little more time on the bench…go figure.

The Steelers started fast and never looked back pacing themselves to an 8-1 victory. Richard's shutout bid was ruined mid-way through the 3rd period when the Black Russians converted on a 2-1 that saw Richard make a great initial stop but the trailer knocked in the rebound when at the time the Steelers held a 5-0 lead. The Steelers didn't stop, however, notching 3 more in the last 5 minutes for the lopsided win. The Animal continued his outstanding start with a hat trick, while Gualter Carvalho added 2 of his own, and Jeff Garner enjoyed a 3 point night. Indeed a night to pad the stats. The Steelers now look forward to back to back games against the Toronto Hitmen (who had that guy named 'Carl' who was just a pain in the …).

NO GAME RECAP AS WRITER MISSES GAME

With GM and utility man Durigon out of the line up for official undisclosed business reasons, the write up of the game itself is not forth coming. Sources say Durigon was trying to lure Brian Burke away from the Leafs post in an effort bring stability to the front office of the Steeler organization. Insiders believe Burke would have cleaned house and rid the team of all European and Asian rooted players - that would have likely meant the end for Lam, Carvalho, Olesh, Didulka, Romaniuk, Rubin, Nolan, and yes even GM Durigon - leaving K-Man, Garner, Lindsay, McCartney, Serdan, and Richard as the 'GOOD 'OL CANADIAN BOYS' as the building blocks for the future. Hmmm?Maybe that's not a bad idea! At 1-5-3 the Steelers are safely near the bottom of the D2 Tuesday night division, with solid potential for relegation to E Division. A look at the schedule sees the Steelers playing 2 E division opponents in the month of December. Could this mean a transition period for the club? League officials believe a loss against one or both of these opponents would solidify their placing in E. Hmmm? Maybe that's not a bad idea either!

Here's the scoring summary from this past Tuesday against Gong Show.

Didulka G 1(7) A 1(7)
Romaniuk G 1(1) A 0
Nolan G 0 A 2(5)
McCartney G 0 A 1(4)
